MELIN HERMON (TYDDYN OLIFER)
Melin Hermon, also known as Tyddyn Oliver or Bodorgan mill was built in 1743. Melin Hermon was one of a number of mills owned by the Bodorgan estate, however the others were either water or tidal mills.
This mill is a grade II listed building as it is substantially intact, one of a handful left like this on Anglesey.
According to the diary of William Bulkeley, another prominent wealthy landowner based in Beaumaris, the foundations of this mill were laid on the 8 May 1743.
This was the first of several mills to be built and owned by the Meyrick family who run the Bodorgan estate.
The others were two fulling mills, one of which was Pont Y Pandy near Llanddeusant and six water powered water mills, one of which was also on the Bodorgan estate on the Afon Gwna and was named Melin Gwna not far from Melin Hermon.
