Bryn Celli Ddu
Bryn Celli Ddu is a prehistoric site on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey. Translated as the “Mound in the dark grove” is regarded as one of the finest passage tombs, not just on Anglesey, but in Wales.
This excellent prehistoric site was first explored seriously in 1865, but between 1928-9 the tomb was thoroughly excavated by the archaeologist W J Hemp. Not only does this have complete passage and burial chamber, but it is also buried under a mound or cairn, although this was re-instated after its excavation in 1929.
